1.What bedding do you need for a cot?

The most important thing you’ll need for your cot is fitted cot sheets. These fitted cot sheets should fit the mattress well, without any loose edges or baggy material. You’ll need both a regular sheet and a and a waterproof mattress protector as well as a few spares in case of any accidents. Along with a light coverlet or blanket, this is all you need for a newborn baby. Younger babies are not recommended to have a duvet or pillow until they are at least 1 year old.

2.Should babies have different bedding at different ages?

Once your baby is over the age of 12 months, you might want to consider adding a lightweight, cot-size duvet and toddler pillow. Using a standard size single bed size duvet will be too much for your little one at this age and may cause them to overheat. A standard single duvet is better suited to children over the age of 4, with many parents waiting until their child is around 6 before giving them a full size or heavier tog duvet. You will know when the time is right to upgrade your little one's bedding. Once you make the switch from a cot to a cot bed, you will of course need new sheets for a cot bed.
